A Mississippi Palate

Heritage Cuisine and Watercolors of Home

Restaurateur, chef, and author Robert St. John and watercolorist Wyatt Waters have done it again. In A Mississippi Palate: Heritage Cuisine and Watercolors of Home, their fourth collaboration, the two have turned their focus to a topic they know well. St. John, using his well-travelled palate, has created and developed 105 Mississippi heritage recipes—some old, some new, but each 100% Mississippi, and each pure St. John.

 Waters, with his home state as the subject, and an intense passion for everything Mississippi, used his vibrant and dynamic palette to create 66 of the best watercolors from his 45-year career.

 Collectively, the chef and artist are commentators and chroniclers of Mississippi culture—one using a cast iron skillet, the other using a #42 DaVinci brush—both armed with a keen awareness of the people, a mutual respect for the ethos, and a deep-seeded love for Mississippi, from the Delta and Hill Country, through the Central Region and Piney Woods, to the Gulf of Mexico.
